The Reason for the Season

Have a very merry Christmas! I hope you are spending it with family, friends and all those that mean everything to you! And while you are wrapped in the love of those around you remember the reason for the season.

                                

10 years later...

My father passed away 10 years ago tomorrow. It is strange to type that...I can't believe it has been 10 years since I have heard his voice, his laugh or his whistle. He was full of humor, wisdom and emotion, something he didn't like. He was of that generation that was not supposed to show their emotions. I am a lot like him, I love to laugh, hope to have wisdom and I am filled with emotion. I can't not cry no matter how hard I try! I always felt bad for my dad because he felt he had to leave the room so we could not see the tears. He loved us SO much and we all felt it.

When he passed away the real estate office I worked at, sent me a floral arrangement. It is a silk arrangement because I was away at the funeral. It is beautiful and I put it out every year and think of him and those that sent it. Memories, family and friends...it is what makes our lives rich and worthwhile.

Pause...

With all the hustle and bustle of the season, remember to take time to pause and ENJOY! Family and friends and of course the real reason for the season are meant to be enjoyed.

Memories

This is one of my husbands favorite Christmas decorations. It belonged to his mother. She passed away in 2006 and we have put it out every year since. It reminds us of SO many Christmas with her. Memories are what the holidays are to me. Are you taking time to make memories?

Hello Bedford Falls!

I am in love with Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. It is just so lovely in December. Absolutely reminds me of Bedford Falls. We were not able to go last year as my hubster was having his heart surgery. So I am so grateful that we are able to travel there this year.

This is the time of year set aside to contemplate, ponder and express our thanks to those who make our lives wonderful. To reflect on the blessings we have received. Many people choose to post a gratitude a day through out the month. I have decided to post just once regarding the things, blessings, and people for which I have gratitude. I am grateful for my faith, my Savior and His redemptive power. For a FREE country that allows me and you to worship how we choose. For those that have given their lives or are willing to, to protect those freedoms. For my incredible family, husband and children...for their love, strength, and support. For my amazing, crazy fun, beautiful, strong and loving grandchildren. For parents and brother who loved and taught me so much. For friends and associates that also bring joy and happiness to me. Happy Friday the 13th!

Many folks don't like Friday the 13th. You know, the ooohhh it will be a bad day. But I always find it to be a great day. So what's that all about? I think that any (every) day can be a great day IF you expect it to be. Does that mean that difficult, bad and frustrating things don't happen? Well of course they do, its just that if you plan on a good day, it is easier to deal with those events. So Happy Friday the 13th! Have a great day!!!

Color me HAPPY!

When you are planning a space you should consider the purpose of the space and who will inhabit the space. And by ALL means get their input! When I do a consultation with a client one of the most important questions I ask them is "what colors to you love and which colors do you dislove" (I think I just made up that word!). It is useless to spend time creating a idea board and source list if they dislove the color! TIP: when creating a space, either by yourself or with a decorator{me!}consider the meaning of color and how it relates to what you are trying to accomplish.

Color the mini series

I have had so many requests for this post, so here ya go! Room color can influence our mood, our thoughts, and our feelings. Consider this when you are creating your space. Color trends will always come and go, so don't spend too much time there. Your home will be perfect if it reflects the likes and personalities of the people living there. You can add a couple of trendy accents to make the space feel fresh. H ere are some additional color thoughts. RED amps up a room’s energy level. It can raise blood pressure,and heart rate. Probably NOT what you want in a child's room.

ORANGE tends to create excitement,and is a bold an energetic color. 


 

GREEN is a very restful color for the eye. Some believe that it is a stress relieving color.

      

YELLOW is a happy colors. It works well in kitchens and dining rooms. It is an energy color.



BLUE is a calming color. It is perfect for a bedroom and bathrooms. It brings a relaxing and serene
feeling to the space. Blue is my favorite color.
