The one thing that keeps my clients from being OrganizeDesign{ed}

What is the one thing that keeps us from being OrganizeDesign{ed}? For many that I have worked with,it is TIME! The time to get OrganizeDesign{ed}and/or the time to stay OrganizeDesign{ed}. It is not a one time event! It is a daily habit, routine or obstacle!  This area was decluttered, OrganizeDesign{ed} and relocated. Many items were given away and now it feels and looks great! It is not only easy for the children to find things, but also to clean up! Great Job Jen! Let me know what your biggest obstacle is to being OrganizeDesign{ed}.

Redesign, Reimagine, Repurpose!

I love this project!! A fabulous mother of 7 came to me with an idea. To create a "creation room" for her children! Her beautiful home has a formal dining room off the foyer. The space is wonderful, but as she told me they don't have many formal dinners with 7 kids 13-1 yrs. This is way too much real estate to have unused or not used to its full potential! With that we had our initial meeting. She wanted a space that her children could well, create! They play instruments so they would need to practice in this space as well as do homework. One of the things I do at the first meeting of a redesign project is we go on a "treasure hunt". I walk thru the home and look for items that can be reused or repurposed. This proved to be very fruitful! Many items she had planned on disposing of were reused in the room. With her desires in mind, I set about putting together a plan. She is a very creative person so once she took a good look at the idea board, she was off! The room is fantastic and filled with repurposed items. This room truly proves that organization, beauty and style live very well together! This is one of my favorite projects!! NOTE: In the after pic the table in the middle was black and was in a basement storage room. The bench on the left side was a coffee table on its way to Goodwill. LOVE the treasure hunt!! The rug (2 rugs)were purchased from Goodwill and the brown chair in right corner from Salvation Army. It was spray painted with fabric paint. The light fixture
once was brassy now classy!

Gg, why do you have plates on your wall?

I love decorating with plates! In fact, I just have a thing for plates. I swear they call to me in a store. My granddaughter thinks its funny that I hang them on the wall when we are supposed to eat off of them. She does have a point. When looking for plates (when they are not calling to me)I like to look for the plastic versions from Target. They are pretty and not as heavy as the porcelain. It's an inexpensive way to fill a space in a kitchen, dining room or entry. What are your thoughts? Plates...no
plates?

It's Fall Ideas Friday!

When fall arrives, my home is already accented with gold, red and some green. I replace the pillows and window treatments and of course pull out the throws. Living in the mid west fall can, at times only visit.  Enjoy the fall colors...inside and out.

OrganizeDesign

I have spent some time getting things in order and I am excited to add some OrganizeDESIGN through out my home. Have I mentioned that I love the Dollar Store and thrift stores? The treasures you can find there!! CAUTION: purchase ONLY what you need!! Otherwise this can be a dangerous place as items have been know to "call" to you. Am I right? What OrganizeDesign projects are you
working on?

Remember...

September 11th was just a date on the calendar. That is until 2001. Then it became so much more... but have we forgotten what is has become? Or are we just comfortable because we are safe?  The world is dangerous and we must stay vigilant.  Take some time today to remember. God bless America.

The BEST Organization System Ever!

Are you feeling the need to "get it organized"? To purge? To make your environment attractive and functional? I don't know about you, but when my house is out of order, my brain feels out of order! Maybe its the ADD but I just can't seem to focus on things when I am in chaos! And sometimes that chaos and lack of focus make it extremely had to get started...because WHERE do I start?? Here are a few things that work for me and then I will tell you THE BEST Organization system EVER!! What works for me: I ask myself the following questions- 1. What area is causing me the most amount of frustration? 2. Can it be solved/organized/beautified quickly? 3. Can a few changes help until I have time for a complete OrganizeDesign? 4. Schedule time for an OrganizeDesign session. For me it kind of becomes a triage way of scheduling. What ever area is making me CrAzY, that is where I start. Mail and clutter on the kitchen island is a source of chaos for me. This is something I try to take care of every day or every other day. Knowing the areas that bug you the most is huge in maintaining sanity! A few things I do always: 1.MAKE YOUR BED! I am amazed at the number of people that do not do this simple but powerful act. This 2 minute activity will instantly make your room look more pleasing. When you are ready to retire at the end of the day, you will be glad you did. 2. If you buy something, donate something. This helps to keep things organized. 3. If you don't love it, get rid of it. If you love a sale like I do, this is very important! And finally THE BEST Organization System EVER is...the one that works for you!! If it is not something that you are going to do, then it is not effective for you. It is not a good system for you. And remember organization and style may only be important to you! If that is your reality, embrace it and make it happen! Lastly remember the best accessory to any home is organization!

Fall is on its way!

Even though it is in the 80's here, it seems like everyone is talking about, decorating for, and excited for FALL. I love fall!! The colors, the temps, the beauty that is autumn. For some reason, this year I am not excited! I can not figure it out...Is it because I am already dreading what follows fall? Probably. I try to live in the moment. Enjoy today. Embrace the now! Perhaps because it is still in the 80's all this fall talk is just too soon. Because I do like to play along, I have included a few photos from last year. It just might help me get in the mood... Are you ready for the beauty of autumn?

It's just BS...

Well what were you thinking? I was thinking Back to School!! I don't have children at home anymore, but I have lots of friends that do. Some have mixed emotions, their babysitters are going to be gone! Others are saying "what will I do?" They usually figure it out about the time they come home! Are you ready? With back to school comes fall and then...well lets not say the "S" word or the "W" word for that matter!

Mommy Talk's photo.
This is such a great idea for getting your kids ready for school! (this was on FB posted by Mommy Talk) In those drawers are their clothes for the week. I love this! You could also hang the outfits on hangers with a tag for what day to wear the outfit. The more organized you and the kids are, the better. What is your favorite organization idea for back to school?
